This course focuses on the fundamentals of classical compressible flow including real gas effects; Discusses wave propagation and the concepts of sound speed and Mach number; Emphasizes one-dimensional steady flows, including the effects of area change, friction, and heat transfer; Considers normal shock waves and the possibility of choking; Study the relationships of thermodynamic and flow, and apply these to practical problems. Recent numerical approaches to the solution of practical problems are also discussed.
This course introduces the concepts of the primary differences between an incompressible flow and compressible flow. It draws the connection between compressible flow and speed of sound, Mach Number and thermodynamics. It then builds on the governing equations to derive the commonly known equations and tackles both 2D and 3D problems.
