Course Description

This course introduces the students to the theory and practice of production management as a functional area in the management of business enterprise. It is a three-unit course which primary discuss the principles, concepts and basic problems affecting the manufacturing and non-manufacturing firms. It also includes the methods, strategies and application of various economical and mathematical tools in solving the production and operation related problems. It covers the two major areas of production and operations management: Design of the Operation System and Operation and Control of the System. 

Course Objective

At the end of the semester, the business and accountancy students will be able to:

  • Acquire a working understanding of the roles/functions of production management in the context of business enterprise;
  • Develop skills in solving production management problems;
  • Recognize, appreciate, and perform the job of a competent production or operation manager; and
  • Imbibe the aptitudes/attitudes/values of a Christian production and operations manager.
